GrayJohnson has recently listed for sale a stunning three-level converted warehouse.
The property is being offered for sale via Expressions of Interest closing Tuesday 12 December @ 12 noon with vacant possession.
The building has a total area of 925 sqm approx. with a land area of 340 sqm approx. The property boasts many period features including imposing red brick façade, timber floors, timber trusses and lofty timber lined ceilings.
The property is steeped in history. In 1911, it became the home of the Commonwealth Harness, Saddlery and Leather Accoutrements Factory during an occupancy that extended until the late 1920s as a manufacturer of equipment for the armed forces.
It is thought that during this period it became the provider of harness equipment for the Battle of Beersheba and other major World War One military campaigns.
A commemorative plaque on the front of the building acknowledges the contribution the building made to the Australian Military Forces from 1912-23.
Then during the 1930s the building became the boot factory operated by Bourke & Cooke, before Zig Zag Paper took over manufacturing their legendary roll-your-own cigarette papers on-site.
in 1973, it was acquired by National Can Industries who manufactured many of Australia’s famous tin can packaging on-site including biscuit tins and original bank money boxes that are now keenly sought by collectors.
National Can on the cessation of manufacturing continued to occupy the building as their corporate office until recently.
The other key highlights include:
- Two expansive frontages
- Seven (7) off street carparks
- Optic fibre network
- Brilliant natural light (3 sides)
- Amenities on 3 levels
